Lead Teachers-Preschool/Toddler

The Lead Teacher position oversees and assures the appropriate operations of the assigned classroom, leading and coaching Assistant teacher(s) to support curriculum development, classroom community/management and building partnerships with families.

Responsibilities include guiding assistant teachers with observations, assessments, curriculum planning, and building strong relationships with children and families.

This position provides welcoming customer service to all children, parents, guests, and fellow employees.

What You'll Do

  • Treat each child, co-worker, and family with dignity and respect.
  • Develop strong relationships with children, families, and team members.
  • Partner with families to achieve common goals for each child.
  • Support children's learning across the domains using developmentally appropriate practice.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan and implement individualized instruction.
  • Use positive guidance and techniques to support children's social-emotional growth.
  • Familiarity with and utilization of the CT ELDS text and DOTS/T.S. Gold Assessment tools.
  • Enter observations and identify levels/age bands into the system.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Provide appropriate adult supervision and maintain child-to-adult ratios at all times.
  • Promote good hygiene and sanitation practices.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations, NAEYC criteria, and WLCDC policies and procedures.
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures, including emergency procedures.
  • Attend required staff meetings, family meetings, and in-services.
  • Promote WLCDC policies and procedures, as well as the NAEYC code of ethics.
  • Attend additional workshops, trainings, and continuing education courses as required.
  • Supervise Assistant teacher(s), teacher aids, and substitutes in the classroom.
  • Assist with training and supporting substitutes, assistants, floaters, volunteers, or others assigned to the classroom.
  • Engage in ongoing reflection and feedback to improve performance.
  • Develop an annual professional development plan with supervisor.
  • Ensure continuity of care by maintaining consistent attendance.
  • Interact with all staff as a team member to ensure optimum program quality.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with CTELDS and DOTS.
  • 2+ years of classroom teaching experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in ECE.
  • Salary is commensurate with educational level and classroom experience.

We have provided a high-quality program to Hartford's children and families for 104 years. Our beautiful facility in Hartford's Clay Arsenal neighborhood has 8 School Readiness Preschool classrooms, 8 Toddler Rooms and 1 Infant Room.

Women's League is currently looking for 3 Lead Teachers and 5 Assistant Teachers.

Lead Teachers-Preschool/Toddler:

Assistant Teachers-Preschool/Toddler:

Full-time positions, 35+ hours per week, with generous benefits. Be part of a classroom teaching team, sharing in observation, assessment, curriculum planning and commitment in making an impact in a child's life.

Requirements: Associate Degree in ECE, OR 30 ECE credits+ 2 years teaching experience. Familiarity with CTELDS and DOTS is a plus. Salary is commensurate with educational level and experience.


Part time positions, 15-20 hours per week. Be part of a classroom teaching team, assist teachers in preparing classroom materials, support children with transitions and build everlasting relationships with children.

Requirements- 18 years old Highschool Diploma/GED or some ECE credits. Experience working with children, kind, reliable and punctual willing to work in a team.
