Western Dairyland Head Start is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to join their team at the Eau Claire Truax Head Start Center. This role involves supporting the management of the classroom and supervising children to ensure their safety and well-being in a positive learning environment.

What You'll Do
- Support the daily activities of children and ensure their safety and well-being by supervising and monitoring their behavior
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and implement engaging classroom activities that promote learning and development
- Model positive behavior and support the development of a positive self-concept in children
- Implement positive guidance techniques and model appropriate practice to promote social and emotional development
- Prepare the classroom and outdoor spaces to ensure they are safe, clean, and ready for daily activities
- Foster an inclusive environment that supports the diverse needs of all children
- Provide recommendations for equipment and supplies to ensure a well-stocked and safe learning environment
- Maintain accurate attendance records for each child
- Regularly observe children for signs of illness and take appropriate action
- Assist with developmental screenings and ongoing assessments to track children's progress
- Stay up-to-date on state and federal regulations, including Child Care Licensing Rules, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Head Start philosophy and Western Dairyland Head Start's core values
- Show sensitivity to the diverse cultures and family backgrounds of the children and families we serve
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, including Standards of Conduct
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
- Complete a comprehensive needs assessment and develop professional development goals annually
- Engage in a minimum of 15 hours of professional development per year to stay current in best practices
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Introduction to Child Care Profession within 6 months of hire
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or Registry certificate; are enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire
