Western Dairyland EOC, Inc is hiring for a support staff member role in Black River Falls. Compensation is $16.24 – $21.66/Hr. Candidates need no formal early childhood credentials to start.
We are seeking a part-time Cook to join our team at Western Dairyland Head Start, located in Black River Falls, WI. This 34-hour-per-week position offers a competitive hourly rate of $16.24 to $21.66. As a Cook, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving healthy meals to our Head Start children and staff.

What You'll Do
Essential Responsibilities
- Establish meal service procedures and protocols.
- Prepare and serve a variety of nutritious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
- Ensure compliance with Head Start and USDA nutrition standards.
- Develop and post weekly menus for children and staff.
- Collaborate with the Health Manager and agency nutritionist to ensure accurate and up-to-date nutrition information.
- Pursue ongoing education and training in kitchen sanitation, food handling, and nutrition.
- Procure food and related items, maintaining inventory and adhering to budget guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and serving area.
- Prepare and distribute menus and recipes for parents' newsletters.
- Plan and execute engaging food-related activities for children.
- Create visually appealing food displays for classrooms.
- Clean and sanitize dishes and utensils.
- Conduct regular inventory to ensure accountability and accuracy.
- Verify invoices and statements for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date food service records.

Education and/or Experience
- Experience or training in nutritional menu planning, quantity food purchasing, and preparation.
- Must meet current certifications outlined in the Wisconsin Child Care Licensing Rules and Regulations and the Head Start Program Performance Standards
- Meet the age requirement of 18 years old.
- Complete 4 hours of annual training in kitchen sanitation, food handling, and nutrition.
