Based in Hamden, this support staff member opening at The Learning Tree Early Childhood Center pays $18 – $20/Hr and requires the appropriate background.
This role is pivotal in shaping the educational experience of children, requiring a deep understanding of child development and effective communication skills. As a key member of the teaching team, the Teacher will be responsible for developing a cohesive team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing classroom operations. What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging educational experiences based on early learning standards and developmentally appropriate practices, fostering social, cognitive, and emotional growth in children.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment by leading by example and modeling behaviors that promote team success.
- Create individual and group activities that cater to diverse learning styles, encouraging children to participate actively and develop essential skills.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through progress reports, informal discussions, and parent-teacher conferences, ensuring parents are informed about their child's development.
- Ensure the classroom environment is safe, healthy, and secure, adhering to center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, files, and forms, adhering to established procedures.
- Engage in continuous professional development, creating and maintaining a personalized plan to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices.
Requirements
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand or sit at times, for an extended amount of time or walk for long distances
- Must be able to lift persons or objects up to 50lbs
- Other movements required from time to time, but are not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- High energy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of CT ELDS
- Must be at least 18 yrs. old
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- Must clear full background check prior to start date.
Nice to Have
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification preferred but not required.

- Knowledge of OEC regulations
