The Assistant Teacher is responsible for fostering a cohesive teaching team with their colleague, delivering and coordinating weekly lesson plans, and monitoring children's progress to establish development goals. The assistant will ensure a secure and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed based on their developmental level. The assistant must be skilled in communicating effectively with both children and adults to meet the needs of the children, adhere to state regulations, and resolve parental concerns. What You'll Do

  • Deliver and coordinate educational curriculum by implementing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards
  • Collaborate with staff to design and execute individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians
  • Ensure the center's policies and state regulations are met at all times
  • Maintain a healthy and safe classroom environment, including adhering to hygiene and cleanliness standards and ensuring the security and safety of children
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, forms, and files
  • Develop and implement a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
  • Perform other duties as listed in the job description and as necessary

Requirements

  • OR ECD101 certification
  • OR minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience preferred
  • Other experience or degrees may be considered
  • Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills
  • Ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment with high energy
  • A strong understanding of child development
  • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Must clear full background check and pass health screening
  • Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 or more pounds, kneel, bend, squat, or crawl
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to follow directions and be respectful
