About This Role
This support staff member position at The Champions Center in Anderson offers $13 – $16/Hr. The role requires the appropriate background.
The ideal Teacher will spearhead a cohesive teaching team, oversee curriculum development, and manage daily classroom operations to create a stimulating and safe environment for children with special needs. To achieve this, the Teacher must be well-versed in child development, fostering a supportive team environment, and effectively communicating with both children and adults. What You'll Do
- Develop and implement educational programs based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, tailoring activities to meet each child's unique needs and promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Lead by example, modeling and coaching the teaching team to achieve success.
- Plan engaging activities that cater to individual and group needs, ensuring children remain actively involved and encouraged to thrive.
- Maintain open communication with parents through regular updates, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
- Guarantee a healthy classroom environment by adhering to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers, ensuring they follow planned activities, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Manage and maintain accurate records, data, forms, and files.
- Develop a personal professional development plan to foster continuous improvement and quality enhancement.
- Adhere to all center policies, state policies, and guidelines.
Requirements
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Must have Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study. OR ECD101 certificate or higher teaching credential preferred.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Must have minimum of 1 year professional child care experience.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
