St. Luke's Children's Center is hiring for a support staff member role in Okc. Compensation is $10 – $13/Hr. Candidates need the appropriate background.
The Assistant Teacher plays a vital role in creating a nurturing environment for young children, supporting teachers and directors to deliver high-quality education. This position demands strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff. By observing and documenting children's progress and interests, the assistant teacher ensures seamless communication between parents, teachers, and directors, and contributes to the development of a engaging and effective educational program.
- Our Center's regular operating hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30AM to 6:00PM.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position, with summer opportunities available for candidates 16 years and older.
- While six to twelve months of teaching experience is preferred, we are willing to train the right candidate.
- Understanding and applying developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) is essential for this role.
- All staff members are required to pass a state-administered background check and meet annual education and center-specific requirements.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the planning and execution of educational activities that foster children's participation and engagement.
- Engage actively with children in various activities, ensuring a clean, organized, and accessible classroom environment.
- Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication, including informal discussions and progress updates.
- Maintain a positive role model, encouraging children to develop self-help skills and good hygiene practices.
- Support a smooth transition for children from home to the child care center, promoting a sense of belonging and security.
- Maintain strict adherence to center policies and state regulations.
- Develop and implement a personal professional development plan to continually enhance quality and expertise.
Requirements
Staff members must be able to frequently assume positions that require bending, crawling, and kneeling, for at least 50% of their scheduled work time.
They must be able to lift children, engage in floor activities, singing, and playing indoors and outdoors.
