What You'll Do

Teachers at Snug As A Bug are responsible for creating a warm and welcoming classroom environment that fosters children's growth and development. Their daily tasks include:

  • Establishing a safe and supportive classroom environment where children feel secure and valued
  • Developing and implementing engaging activities that promote early learning, creativity, and exploration
  • Guiding children's social and emotional development through positive interactions and redirection
  • Ensuring children's safety and well-being at all times, including supervision and participation in daily routines
  • Encouraging healthy habits and classroom responsibility
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
  • Supporting children's development in various areas, including language, motor skills, social skills, and independence
  • Communicating with families about children's progress and daily experiences
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues
  • Adhering to center policies and state childcare licensing regulations
  • Participating in staff meetings, trainings, and center events as required
  • Collaborating with other teachers to maintain a positive and supportive team environment

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass all required background checks according to Wisconsin childcare licensing regulations
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to follow health, safety, and sanitation procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable, patient, and compassionate when working with young children
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced classroom setting
  • Willingness to complete required state childcare trainings and continuing education
  • Physically able to lift up to 25 pounds, sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years old

Nice to Have

While not required, the following experience or qualifications are highly valued:

  • Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children
  • Knowledge of child development milestones and age-appropriate learning practices
  • Experience with classroom lesson planning or play-based curriculum
  • Experience managing classroom routines and transitions
  • Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Previous experience working in a licensed childcare center or preschool
