What You'll Do
Your Role
As a Teacher at Small Steps Childcare & Early Learning Center, you will be responsible for leading by example and creating a cohesive teaching team. You will design and implement a curriculum that supports children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development, and provide a safe, stimulating, and engaging classroom environment where every child can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment by modeling and coaching a team of teacher assistants and volunteers.
- Plan and lead engaging activities that encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth in children.
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, progress updates, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Design and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with early learning standards, and ensure compliance with center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for children’s progress and classroom activities.
- Commit to ongoing professional development to continuously improve the quality of care and education.
- Supervise and support teacher assistants and volunteers to uphold classroom standards, and ensure a safe and secure environment for all.
- Develop and lead a cohesive teaching team that works together to create a stimulating and engaging classroom environment.
Requirements
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- A strong foundation in oral and written communication skills, basic computer skills, and leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.

- We value certifications such as Child Development Associates Certification, and degrees in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
