What You'll Do
- Engage children in a variety of activities that encourage exploration, creativity, and learning, both through play and structured educational programs.
- Provide individualized attention to each child's needs, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that promote cognitive development, including color, shape, number, and letter recognition, as well as personal hygiene and social skills.
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment, teaching children essential rules and procedures.
- Share engaging stories and read books to small groups or the entire class.
- Design and lead activities that promote physical, mental, social, and emotional development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Evaluate children's progress, behavior, and development, identifying areas of strength and potential areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with supervisors, parents, and child development specialists to address any concerns or issues that may arise.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss their child's progress, address concerns, and provide suggestions for promoting learning and development.
- Prepare classrooms and materials for activities, ensuring a stimulating and engaging environment.
- Teach children essential life skills, including proper eating habits and personal hygiene.
- Provide nutritious meals and snacks, following established nutritional guidelines.
- Welcome children to the school environment, helping them settle in and feel comfortable.
- Modify teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of your students.
- Model activities for children, demonstrating the value of exploration and learning.
- Organize and arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Maintain accurate and complete student records, adhering to relevant laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
- Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration, highlighting their progress and achievements.
- Plan and implement a balanced program of instruction, work time, and demonstration, providing students with opportunities to learn, ask questions, and explore.
- Display students' work in a manner that is engaging and suitable for their age and developmental level.
- Attend professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to enhance your skills and stay up-to-date with best practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and schedule lessons, promoting a cohesive and engaging learning environment.
- Supervise and support teacher assistants and volunteers, providing guidance and feedback as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings, staying informed about school policies and initiatives.
- Administer assessments to help determine children's developmental levels, needs, and potential, informing your teaching practices and strategies.
Requirements
- Fingerprint clearance card (Arizona requirement)
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with toddlers (1–2 years old)
- Knowledge of child development and positive guidance techniques
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Minimum 18 years of age
