We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Child Care Specialist. This is a dynamic role that involves monitoring participants on the Child Care Food Program for compliance with USDA regulations. In addition to this responsibility, the successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting and providing technical assistance to individuals interested in becoming licensed family childcare providers and to USDA Food Program participants. They will also assist practitioners with the Childcare Registry and identify and support both practitioners' professional development goals as well as Health and Safety annual training requirements.

What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Support participants on the Child Care Food Program, including documentation of reviews and recordkeeping, and conducting home visits to ensure program compliance.
- Evaluate participants' menus, make adjustments, and document changes.
- Accurately complete support visit forms and conduct recruitment visits to educate potential providers on the benefits of the program.
- Provide technical assistance to providers regarding the program.
Recruitment:
- Maintain a tracking system for potential family childcare providers from initial phone call to licensure.
- Conduct home visits to provide technical assistance to potential family childcare providers and promote quality childcare in their homes.
- Conduct outreach activities to identify potential family childcare providers and promote the business of family childcare.
Career Counselor:
- Field calls from practitioners regarding the Childcare Registry program and review Registry applications.
- Assess applications for completeness and provide technical assistance to practitioners on Registry forms.
- Counsel practitioners on available training opportunities and professional development programs.
- Perform outreach duties promoting the Childcare Registry and provide guidance on Health & Safety requirements.
- Complete monthly reports.
Requirements
- Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Requires working to established procedures and the ability to be prompt and on time
- Must be organized and able to pay close attention to detail.
- Must possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license and clean driving record with access to an insured vehicle. The employee is required to use their personal vehicle and must be willing to travel to various locations for home visits.
- The employee must occasionally lift or move more than 50 pounds.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to work independently or as a team and work under minimal supervision.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills and Knowledge:
- Computer and basic office administration skills. Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
- Basic nutrition knowledge.
- Knowledge of the state’s childcare licensing requirements is highly preferred.
Nice to Have
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
- Experience as a childcare provider.
