About This Role

Northeast Youth Center is hiring for a support staff member role in Spokane. Compensation is $20 – $24/Hr. Candidates need completed early childhood education (ECE) college credits.


The ECEAP Lead Teacher oversees the development and implementation of high-quality early childhood education programs for preschool-aged children enrolled in the Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP). This position involves ensuring compliance with ECEAP Performance Standards, state licensing regulations, and organizational policies while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for children and families. What You'll Do

Curriculum & Instruction

  • Develop and implement a culturally responsive curriculum that aligns with ECEAP Performance Standards and promotes school readiness across all developmental domains.
  • Observe children regularly, maintaining accurate records to inform individualized instruction and support diverse learning needs.
  • Organize and facilitate engaging daily classroom activities that promote active learning and school readiness.
  • Ensure that classroom environments are safe, well-organized, and supportive of children's active learning.

Child Assessment & Documentation

  • Administer required developmental screenings and assessments on schedule.
  • Regularly update child portfolios, progress notes, and assessment records to track children's development.
  • Use assessment data to tailor instruction and support children with unique learning requirements.

Family Engagement

  • Nurture positive relationships with families and serve as their primary point of contact.
  • Hold required family conferences and home visits to maintain strong relationships and support family well-being.
  • Collaborate with families to establish goals and support children's learning and development.
  • Offer resources and referrals to promote family well-being.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Supervise and mentor classroom staff, including Assistant Teachers and Classroom Aides.
  • Work collaboratively with Family Support Specialists, Health/Nutrition staff, and other interdisciplinary team members to support children and families.
  • Attend staff meetings, participate in professional development, and complete required trainings to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Support program events, parent meetings, and community engagement activities to foster a sense of community and involvement.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure adherence to ECEAP Performance Standards, state licensing regulations, and organizational policies to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
  • Accurately maintain records, reports, and documentation for compliance and monitoring purposes.
  • Implement consistent health, safety, and emergency procedures to ensure children's well-being.
  • Support inclusive practices and ensure accommodations for children with disabilities or special needs.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of child development, developmentally appropriate practice, and trauma-informed care
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education OR related field with equivalent ECE credits as required by ECEAP standards
  • Experience working in early childhood education, preferably in a state-funded preschool or Head Start/ECEAP program
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills

Nice to Have

  • Training in Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, or similar early learning systems
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities
  • Washington State Teaching Certificate (P‑3 or related endorsement)
  • Experience supervising or mentoring classroom staff
