What You'll Do
Key Responsibilities
- Support the lead guide in maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Assist children with daily routines, including toileting and self-care.
- Clean and maintain the classroom environment to ensure a beautiful and orderly space.
- Support children in transitions between activities and help with snacks and mealtimes.
- Encourage independence and respectful behavior in children.
- Provide a nurturing and safe environment for all children.
- Supervise and engage with children on the playground.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience:
- At least 1–2 years of professional childcare or classroom experience
- Experience with Montessori philosophy is a plus
- Certifications and Documentation
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Fingerprint Clearance Card
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and as part of a team
- Good classroom management and organizational skills
- Observant, patient, and nurturing demeanor
- Ability to follow directions, accept coaching, and be flexible in a dynamic environment
- Commitment to upholding Montessori philosophy, including respect for children’s independence and development
- Basic computer skills may be required for record-keeping and communication
Additional Considerations
- A willingness to complete Montessori-specific training, such as an orientation or assistant certificate course
- A genuine passion for supporting children’s growth and learning in a Montessori environment is essential
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
