Kids Village Montessori is hiring for a support staff member role in Mcallen. Compensation is $9 – $11/Hr. Candidates need the appropriate background.
The Teacher Assistant is a vital member of our team, responsible for creating a nurturing environment and assisting in educational activities that promote the overall well-being of our children. To be successful, this role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the individual to work collaboratively with teachers, directors, and parents. By observing and documenting children's interests and progress, the Teacher Assistant provides valuable insights to parents and staff, ultimately contributing to the development of positive relationships. Under the guidance of the Teacher and Director, the Assistant implements engaging activities that cater to the children's needs and interests, fostering a sense of community and growth.

What You'll Do
- Support teachers in planning and implementing educational activities, encouraging children's participation and engagement.
- Take ownership of maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment, ensuring that materials and supplies are readily available for children to explore and learn.
- Maintain open communication with parents through regular updates and progress reports, fostering a collaborative approach to child development.
- Model good behavior and promote self-help and hygiene practices among children.
- Ensure a seamless transition for children from home to the child care center, providing a sense of stability and routine.
- Adhere to all center policies and state regulations, demonstrating a commitment to excellence and compliance.
- Emphasize continuous professional growth and development, recognizing the importance of staying up-to-date with best practices in child care.
Requirements
- Must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift 40 pounds and spend most of the day on your feet
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as basic computer proficiency
- Understanding of child development principles
- Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Must pass a comprehensive background check and health screening
Nice to Have
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification would be a significant asset.
- Prior experience in child care or a related field, ideally 1-2 years, would be beneficial.
