What You'll Do
- Operate wheeled carts to transport linens, towels, toilet items, and cleaning supplies.
- Ensure health standards are met by thoroughly cleaning rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
- Effectively manage waste by emptying wastebaskets, emptying and cleaning ashtrays, and transporting trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Proactively maintain supply levels by replenishing essentials such as drinking glasses, linens, writing supplies, and bathroom items.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure storage areas and carts remain well-stocked, clean, and organized.
- Polish and dust furniture and equipment to maintain their appearance and functionality.
- Efficiently clean floors using a variety of methods and equipment, including brooms, mops, and powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Use specialized equipment to clean carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, and apply wax and polish as necessary.
- Hang draperies and dust window blinds to maintain a clean and visually appealing environment.
- Employ germicides and steam-operated sterilizers to disinfect equipment and supplies.
- Monitor hotel and guest property to identify potential damage, theft, and lost items, and report any incidents to supervisors.
- Care for children or elderly persons by supervising their activities, providing companionship, and assisting with daily needs.
- Assist with kitchen duties, including washing dishes, cleaning cooking utensils and silverware, and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.
- Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas.
- Sort and manage laundry, load washing machines, iron and fold dried items, and store clean linens in linen closets.
- Polish silver accessories and metalwork, such as fixtures and fittings.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and social or business functions by arranging decorations, media equipment, and furniture.
- Purchase or order groceries and household supplies, record expenditures, and maintain kitchen inventory.
- Coordinate repair services and wait for repair workers to arrive.
- Replace light bulbs to maintain a safe and well-lit environment.
- Delegate tasks to other staff members and provide guidance on work methods and routines.
- Plan and prepare meals and refreshments, adhering to employer instructions or own methods.
- Answer telephones and doorbells to ensure prompt communication and assistance.
- Deliver essential items, such as television sets, ironing boards, baby cribs, and rollaway beds, to guests' rooms.
- Reposition and arrange furniture and turn mattresses to maintain a comfortable and safe environment.
