Early Childhood - Long term substitute teacher assistant
About This Role
Based in Virginia Beach, this support staff member opening at Kids of Grace Preschool pays $16 – $17/Hr and requires an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
Summary:
Looking for a long-term assistant teacher who is responsible for developing and implementation of lesson plans and activities where students develop skills in self-help, motor, social, cognitive, spiritual and language skills through the integration and demonstration of Christian values.

What You'll Do
Representative Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical skill development considering the individual needs of the student and appropriate developmental expectations
- Supervises, guides, and communicates with the teacher to support individual needs and growth in the classroom
- Instructs children in practices of self-help, self-care, and self-regulation in accordance with appropriate development level in the 2's, 3's and 4's classroom environment
- Helps children develop habits involved in the routine of the day like caring for own clothing, picking up and putting away materials, books, and snacks, making transitions in accordance with appropriate development level
- Keeps accurate records of observation and progress of each child
- Maintains positive classroom and playground discipline and order
- Responsible for operational, cleanliness and function of classroom to include technology, materials, safety items etc. reporting or correcting issues in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Report all signs of child abuse and neglect to proper authority
- Attends all staff meetings and training
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent qualifications in the licensing standards 22 VAC-185-190.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Christian Education. Computer literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Suite; bookkeeping experience is preferred; completed at least one years of experience working under supervision primarily with preschoolers in a licensed child care center, nursery school, church-operated school, or similar setting; CPR/First Aid certification; a well-developed philosophy on the education of young children.
