What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

The Part-Time Teacher will:

  • Provide loving care and supervision to children throughout the day.

  • Assist with implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities, including outdoor play and rest time.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that promotes learning and exploration.
  • Supervise children closely at all times, both indoors and outdoors, and ensure their physical and emotional safety.
  • Support children with toileting, diapering, handwashing, feeding, and personal care needs as required.
  • Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and Virginia licensing standards to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Communicate respectfully with children, families, coworkers, and leadership to build strong relationships and a positive classroom culture.
  • Document observations, incidents, and classroom needs as required to ensure effective communication and decision-making.
  • Help create a positive classroom culture where children feel known, valued, and supported in their learning journey.
  • Assist with special activities, STE(AI)M projects, summer camp activities, and enrichment experiences that promote creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

  • Experience working with children in a licensed childcare center, preschool, school, camp, or similar setting.

  • Ability to follow directions, work collaboratively as part of a team, and communicate effectively with colleagues and leadership.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills to promote a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and good judgment to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.
  • Ability to meet Virginia child care background check and training requirements.
