About This Role
Kids Academy of Learning & Excellence powered by CORE (KALE) is hiring for a support staff member role in North Chesterfield. Compensation is $12 – $16/Hr. Candidates need the appropriate background.
Looking for a dynamic leader to support the daily operations of our licensed childcare and early learning center in North Chesterfield, Virginia. As an Assistant Director, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the center's success by supporting the Center Director, maintaining VDOE licensing compliance, and overseeing staffing, classrooms, family engagement, and program quality. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with experience in childcare administration, early childhood education, or daycare leadership who are looking to grow into senior leadership roles.
This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as experience in staff supervision, coaching, training, and performance support. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of VDOE licensing regulations and have the ability to pass all required Virginia background checks. A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience, is also required.

What You'll Do
- Oversee daily operations of a licensed childcare center, ensuring staffing, ratios, and classroom coverage meet all requirements
- Maintain compliance with VDOE licensing regulations and documentation
- Provide staff supervision, coaching, training, and performance support to ensure a high-quality program
- Support the implementation of early childhood curriculum and classroom quality initiatives
- Assist with enrollment management, attendance, scheduling, and family records
- Act as a point of contact for families and staff, escalating issues as needed, and supporting conflict resolution and professional communication
- Assume delegated Center Director responsibilities during absences and provide leadership support to the center's staff
Requirements
- Must meet VDOE Child Day Center (8VAC20-780) requirements
- Must have one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Associate degree in a child-related field with required experience
- High school diploma or GED with required supervised programmatic experience
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to pass all required Virginia background checks
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- Completion of required preservice and annual childcare training
- Working knowledge of Virginia childcare licensing regulations
- Prior lead teacher, assistant director, or childcare supervisor experience preferred
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and supervise children for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for classroom and emergency response activities
- Visual and auditory acuity for child supervision and safety
- Negative TB screening as required by Virginia licensing regulations
- Maintenance of required health clearances throughout employment
- Completion of Daily Health Observation (DHO) training
- Completion of Emergency Preparedness and Response training
- Compliance with communicable disease reporting and exclusion requirements
- Ongoing compliance with all childcare health, safety, and sanitation standards
