What You'll Do

Leadership and Curriculum Implementation

  • Develops and implements engaging lesson plans that align with the Y's curriculum and meet the unique needs of each child.
  • Collaborates with assistant teachers to ensure a cohesive and effective learning environment.
  • Observes and evaluates children's progress, making adjustments to the curriculum as needed to meet their individual needs.

Safety and Communication

  • Ensures the safety and well-being of all children in the program, maintaining a secure and welcoming environment.
  • Manages emergencies and unusual circumstances, maintaining a calm and composed demeanor.
  • Builds strong relationships with parents and co-workers through effective communication and respect for confidentiality.
  • Plans and conducts parent-teacher conferences, providing regular updates on children's progress.
  • Maintains a clean and organized classroom environment, adhering to the Y's standards for cleanliness and appearance.

Administrative and Reporting Responsibilities

  • Manages classroom records and documentation, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Reports any concerns or issues to the Director of Child Development, maintaining a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Additional Duties

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Child Development, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School diploma or equivalent general education degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred.
  • Abusive Head Trauma Training, CPR for infant and child, AED, Skills and Strategies for the Child Care Teacher, SIDs Prevention Training, Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care within 30 days of employment.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED Certifications and child abuse prevention trainings within 30 days of hire.
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Must be able to comply with ADA requirements.
  • Must complete Wisconsin Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire.
  • High School diploma or equivalent general education degree required, Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education preferred.
