We're seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our early childhood classroom team at Future Leaders of Excellence. What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to design and implement daily lesson plans and classroom activities that cater to the diverse needs of our students
  • Help maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment that encourages children to explore and learn
  • Develop strong relationships with children, engaging them in activities that promote social development, emotional intelligence, and positive behavior
  • Ensure the classroom is always clean, tidy, and safe for children to play and learn
  • Support smooth transitions, arrivals, and departures, while maintaining a sense of calm and routine
  • Assist with recording classroom observations, documentation, and other administrative tasks as directed by the Lead Teacher
  • Communicate effectively with parents through regular updates and interactions, addressing their questions and concerns in a professional and respectful manner
  • Encourage independence, self-reliance, and responsible behavior among our students
  • Adhere to all center policies, procedures, and state regulations governing early childhood education and care
  • Take advantage of professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, staying up-to-date with best practices in early childhood education

Requirements

  • Infant and Child CPR and First Aid certification is required; obtain this within the specified timeframe if you don't already have it
  • You must successfully complete and maintain the required background checks, including fingerprinting and reference verification, as mandated by TDHS
  • A pre-employment health screening is a must, as per Tennessee Child Care Licensing Regulations
  • You'll need to be available to work full-time in our dynamic and active early childhood classroom environment
  • Strong verbal communication skills and basic written communication abilities are essential for this role
  • Ability to follow instructions and work harmoniously as part of a team in a fast-paced classroom setting
  • Active supervision of children requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor; you'll need to be able to perform these tasks with ease
  • Lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds may be necessary at times; you'll need to be capable of doing so
  • You'll need to have good eyesight and hearing, including close and distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to respond to child cues and sounds
  • Effective communication with children and adults in a busy classroom environment is crucial
  • You'll need to be able to participate actively in classroom routines and movements throughout the day
  • A willingness to work toward early childhood certification, if not already obtained, is essential for this role

Nice to Have

  • A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Technical Certificate (TCC), or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is highly desirable
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field may also be considered; however, relevant childcare experience may be accepted in its place
  • Relevant childcare experience may be accepted in place of formal education; we value practical experience and skills in early childhood education
