First United Methodist Early Learning Center is hiring for a support staff member role in Martinsville. Compensation is $12.50 – $13/Hr. Candidates need the appropriate background.
The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in our childcare center, assisting Teachers and the Director in creating a nurturing and secure environment for our young learners. As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing them to build strong relationships with children, parents, and colleagues. A key aspect of this role is observing and documenting children's progress, sharing this information with parents and staff, and contributing to the development of a high-quality educational program that caters to the needs and interests of our students. Under the guidance of the Teacher and Director, the Teacher Assistant will design and implement engaging activities that promote learning and personal growth, ensuring a seamless transition from home to child care center.

What You'll Do
- Support the implementation of curriculum activities, encouraging active participation from children and promoting a positive learning environment.
- Maintain a clean, well-organized, and well-stocked classroom, ensuring all materials are readily available for educational activities.
- Develop and maintain open communication channels with parents through regular updates and progress reports, fostering a collaborative partnership between home and child care center.
- Model and promote good hygiene and self-help skills among children, promoting a culture of independence and responsibility.
- Assist in ensuring a smooth and efficient transition for children from home to child care center, establishing a sense of security and familiarity.
- Adhere to all center policies and regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for our students.
- Develop and implement a personal professional development plan to continuously improve skills and knowledge, contributing to the enhancement of our childcare program.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of professional child care experience.
- High energy levels and a passion for working with children.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, promoting a positive and supportive work environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as basic computer proficiency.
- An understanding of child development principles and practices.
- Superb leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Current Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
