One-year old Assistant Teacher
About This Role
This support staff member position at First Baptist Child Development Cen in North Myrtle Beach offers $15 – $17/Hr. The role requires a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, though it is preferred rather than required.

What You'll Do
Toddler Caregiver Responsibilities
- Support the growth and development of toddlers through engaging play experiences and activities.
- Build strong relationships with families through daily communication and progress updates.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-prepared classroom, including proper sanitation and inventory of supplies.
- Assist with daily routines and transitions, ensuring the smooth operation of the childcare setting.
- Implement faith-based learning through Bible stories, prayer, music, and activities designed for young children.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain a commitment to personal and professional growth.
- Follow all center policies, procedures, and South Carolina childcare licensing regulations.
- Work closely with the Lead Teacher to prepare materials and set up learning environments.
- Supervise and engage children during instructional and free-play times.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing classroom environment.
- Support individualized learning and classroom inclusion practices.
Requirements
Education:
- Associate’s degree or some college coursework in education, child development, or related field (preferred)
- Completion of a Teacher Assistant certification or formal training program (a plus)
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
Experience:
- Exposure to working with children with special needs or behavioral challenges (a plus)
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a licensed childcare center (1 year preferred)
- Experience supporting classroom management, lesson preparation, or group educational activities
Skills & Abilities:
- Proven teamwork and collaboration in a classroom or center-based setting
- High energy, patience, and enthusiasm for working with young children
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate practices
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Physically capable of lifting and carrying toddlers (20–30 lbs)
- Ability to follow teacher instructions and maintain classroom routines
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities:

Additional Requirements:
- Must clear a full background check and fingerprint clearance
- Must pass a health screening

Nice to Have
College credit in early childhood education or related field of study. CDA or 6 hours of ECE credit preferred.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
Knowledge of DSS/DHEC guidelines.
