A Preschool Teacher Aid plays a vital role in supporting the classroom Lead Preschool Teacher and Director by assisting with established preschool plans that align with the program's goals, while fostering age-appropriate growth experiences for the children.
This role helps create a nurturing and secure environment for the children, assisting in activities that enhance their care and education. Strong communication, listening, and teamwork skills are essential for success in this position. Building positive relationships with children and their parents is also a key aspect of this role.
The Preschool Teacher Aid assists in implementing engaging activities that cater to children's interests and needs, under the direction of the Teacher and Director.

What You'll Do
- Assists in the execution of all classroom lesson plans and outdoor activities, ensuring a well-structured and engaging learning environment.
- Participates actively in children's activities, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the room's materials and toys, and ensuring that classroom materials are always stocked.
- Helps supervise and guide the children in their restroom needs, emphasizes the importance of washing hands frequently, and contributes to the overall upkeep of the classroom.
- Maintains open and confidential communication with parents, addressing their concerns and needs in a timely and professional manner.
- Models self-help and good hygiene behaviors, promoting a culture of independence and responsibility among the children.
- Ensures a smooth and seamless transition for children entering the classroom each day.
- Fully complies with all center policies and state regulations, upholding the highest standards of quality and excellence.
- Maintains a personal professional development plan to continuously improve skills and knowledge, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education and care.
Requirements
- Experience working with 3 and/or 4-year-old children, with a solid understanding of basic child development principles.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey messages clearly and effectively.
- Must be physically capable of lifting up to 35 pounds and performing tasks that require kneeling, bending, squatting, crawling, and getting down and up from a sitting position on the floor.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to expand knowledge in the field of preschool education.
- Current or willingness to obtain Infant/Child CPR, AED, and First Aid certification upon employment.
- Pass a full background check and meet health screening requirements (when requested).
Nice to Have
- Ability and willingness to take on leadership roles in the classroom, stepping in to support the Lead Teacher when needed.
- Willingness to contribute to extras such as onsite laundry needs, replenishing disposable supplies, assisting with basic organization, and participating in seasonal changes.

About EAST CROSS EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
Our childcare ministry here at East Cross Early Childhood Center has been part of East Cross Church since 1985 and as you can imagine, we have done our best to keep current with the part-time care needs of the many families we serve. Not all families need fulltime care, sometimes only a few times each week so the adults can attend appointments; work from home in a quite environment; for those grandparents/caregivers that are involved in the child(ren)'s care, they too could use a break a few times per week. We also typically follow the Bartlesville Public School calendar which is convenient for families with older children.
We are not a "daycare," in our Parent Day Out program (16 months - 2 yrs of age) we of course provide loving, Christian care and also introduce the children to a variety of themes though books, crafts, games, music...anything that will aid the children in knowing a little more about different areas of our world (such as Family / Grandparents, Farm, Fire Safety, Colors, Numbers, Shapes, Holidays, Snow, Penguins, Dental Health, Fruits, Vegetable, Plants and Insects, etc.).
Our 3 and 4-Year-Old Preschool classes offer a more structured day with specific routines that help children become familiar and comfortable about a peer social setting (a classroom). Once they have the understanding of what is expected in this type of environment, then the actual learning and absorption of information can come more easily. These classes and their families are provided a monthly calendar so knowing what learning concepts and activities can be worked on outside of the classroom.
