The Community Action Partnership of Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties (CAPHR) Head Start program is dedicated to supporting child and family development and promoting lifelong educational success. We provide:

  • Classroom support including available on-site coaching

What You'll Do

  1. Ensure the classroom is a safe and healthy learning environment, fostering a sense of well-being and security for all children.
  2. Build strong relationships with children and families by creating a warm, supportive atmosphere that encourages trust and open communication.
  3. Welcome and involve families in the learning process, recognizing them as their child's primary educator and supporting the development of meaningful relationships between children and families.
  4. Design and implement engaging daily learning experiences that cater to the unique needs and interests of each child.
  5. Take responsibility for completing teaching tasks, including developmental and behavioral screenings, and ongoing observation and assessment procedures.
  6. Create a dynamic and interactive classroom environment, incorporating both teacher-led and child-initiated activities that promote learning and development.
  7. Develop and maintain relationships with families through regular home visits and center visits, scheduling meetings at a time convenient for them.

Requirements

As a teacher in the CAPHR Child Development program, you should expect to:

  1. Get down to a child's level to engage with them effectively.
  2. Participate in physical activities with children, including running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full body motions.
  3. Respond promptly to emergency situations by running after a child in peril.
  4. Lift children in emergency situations, if necessary.
  5. Comfort and nurture children who may be upset or challenging.
  6. Take action to ensure children's safety in case of a fire, helping them crawl to safety.
  7. Develop strategies to manage accidental kicks or hits during energetic play.

Familiarity with technology is a plus!
