This role requires a 40-hour workweek, spanning 41 weeks a year, with the option for full-year positions available.

What You'll Do

  1. Foster a secure and healthy learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
  2. Develop meaningful relationships with children and families through a nurturing and supportive approach.
  3. Welcome and engage families as their child's primary educator, encouraging their involvement in the curriculum and fostering relationships between children and families.
  4. Design and implement engaging daily learning experiences that cater to the intellectual and physical development of each child.
  5. Ensure the completion of teaching responsibilities, including:
  6. Conducting developmental and behavioral screenings within 45 days of a child's start date, followed by ongoing observations and assessments.
  7. Creating daily classroom activities that cater to individual needs and interests of the children.
  8. Scheduling 4 family visits per year, prioritizing the convenience of the family, with a goal of 2 home visits and 2 center visits annually.

Requirements

In the CAPHR Child Development program, a teacher should expect to:

  1. Be able to run after a child in peril.
  2. Get on the ground with children in case of fire and help them crawl to safety.
  3. Lift children in emergencies.
  4. Nurture children who may need consoling in the case of challenging behaviors.
  5. Kneel to address children at eye level.
  6. Sometimes get kicked or hit accidentally during exuberant play.
  7. Be able to demonstrate motor activities that may include running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full body motions.
