This is a 40-hour per week, 41-week-per-year position.

What You'll Do

  1. Create and maintain a secure, healthy learning environment that fosters growth and development.
  2. Build trust with children and families by establishing a positive, nurturing atmosphere.
  3. Welcome and support families as their child's primary educator, encouraging involvement and developing relationships between children and families; provide opportunities for families to participate in the curriculum beyond the classroom.
  4. Plan and implement daily learning experiences that promote intellectual and physical development.
  5. Ensure the completion of teaching responsibilities, including:
  6. Conducting developmental and behavioral screenings on each child within 45 days of enrollment and ongoing observation and assessment throughout their participation.
  7. Designing and delivering daily classroom activities (both teacher-initiated and child-initiated) tailored to individual needs and interests.
  8. Completing four family visits annually, scheduling meetings at family convenience, with a goal of two home visits and two center visits each year. 

Requirements

In our Child Development program, a teacher should be prepared to:

  1. Position themselves at eye level with children.
  2. Demonstrate various motor activities that may include running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full-body movements.
  3. Respond promptly to situations requiring emergency intervention.
  4. Provide physical support to children when necessary.
  5. Comfort children exhibiting challenging behaviors.
  6. Help children exit the classroom in the event of an emergency.
  7. Occasionally withstand physical contact during exuberant play.
