This role is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, overseeing curriculum implementation, and ensuring a safe and stimulating learning environment where children can thrive. To achieve this, teachers must have a deep understanding of child development and be skilled in communicating with both children and adults. Effective communication and strong leadership skills are essential in guiding teacher assistants, resolving parental concerns, and fostering a positive team environment.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement educational curriculum that aligns with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards through the creation of engaging classroom activities.
- Set a positive example and empower teaching team success by providing guidance, coaching, and support.
- Design and lead age-appropriate activities that promote social, cognitive, and emotional growth, and actively engage children in learning.
- Regularly communicate with parents through various channels, including informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Maintain compliance with all center policies and state regulations.
- Ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment by upholding high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and security.
- Oversee teacher assistants and volunteers to ensure they are following planned activities, hygiene, and safety protocols.
- Accurately maintain records, forms, and files.
- Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and promote continuous quality improvement.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in ECE.
- Must clear full background check and must pass health screening.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.
