The Lead Teacher must ensure compliance with all Georgia Pre-K regulations, maintain accurate documentation, and cultivate a positive classroom culture. Effective collaboration with the Assistant Teacher and open communication with families and staff are essential components of this role.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities: Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher

  • Develop and implement a high-quality instructional program that aligns with Bright from the Start (DECAL) Georgia Pre-K standards, incorporating a structured and engaging learning environment that supports children’s academic, social, and emotional growth
  • Manage daily classroom operations, overseeing a group of children in a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environment
  • Establish a nurturing classroom atmosphere that encourages exploration, independence, and creativity, while maintaining a well-organized and attractive space
  • Implement approved lesson plans and daily schedules, ensuring alignment with program curriculum and guidelines
  • Conduct regular observations and assessments of each child’s developmental progress using approved tools, such as the Work Sampling System
  • Support children’s social and emotional development through positive guidance and developmentally appropriate practices, fostering a positive classroom culture
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and program regulations related to health, safety, and early childhood education
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation, including attendance, assessments, and required reporting, to effectively communicate with families and staff
  • Work collaboratively with the Assistant Teacher to support classroom instruction and daily routines, promoting a positive and productive learning environment
  • Provide clear expectations for behavior and use positive reinforcement to guide children’s actions, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the classroom, shared spaces, and playground areas, adhering to the Chroma Early Learning Academy standards
  • Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and school functions, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing learning and growth
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of early childhood development, including the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children, and apply this knowledge in the classroom

Requirements

  • Must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or an approved equivalent that meets Bright from the Start (DECAL) requirements
  • Meet all state and program requirements, including a background check and credential verification
  • Hold a valid or eligible Georgia Pre-K Lead Teacher credential as defined by DECAL
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices for four-year-old children
  • Have experience working in an early childhood or preschool setting, although this is not required
  • Possess strong classroom management, organizational, and lesson planning skills
  • Be able to conduct ongoing child assessments and maintain accurate documentation using tools such as the Work Sampling System
  • Display effective communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and staff
  • Have knowledge of and ability to maintain compliance with all local, state, and program regulations, including health and safety standards
  • Be able to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor, reliability, and consistent attendance
