What You'll Do

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communication and Collaboration - Work closely with the team to complete clear documentation, including daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, and professional development plans. Develop effective communication strategies to support positive relationships with parents, colleagues, and regulatory agencies. Emphasize accessibility, approachability, and engagement to ensure constructive relationships. Foster a welcoming environment by incorporating family requests and traditions into the classroom, and provide non-judgmental support to parents. Respond promptly to parent concerns.
  • Assessment and Growth - Assess each child's development using a range of methods, including progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and input from families and other stakeholders. Share assessment information with the classroom team and link it to targeted growth opportunities in all developmental areas.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Quality Improvement - Stay up-to-date on NAEYC code of ethics, city, and state regulations, as well as accreditation requirements. Accurately complete required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation and adhere to food service rules. Attend CACFP training as needed to maintain knowledge and compliance.
  • Organizational Improvement - Contribute to improving organizational performance by suggesting areas for improvement, implementing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions. Collaborate with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending efficient staffing structures, purchases, and process improvements.
  • Child Development and Care - Work with the team to plan, implement, and communicate activities that support the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of assigned children. Provide responsive, developmentally appropriate care by guiding children's behavior and engagement, setting consistent limits, and encouraging problem-solving.

Supervise and care for children in a child care or classroom setting.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ year of work experience in a related job discipline
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Preferred: First aid certification, child abuse recognition, and knowledge of common childhood diseases
