The Teacher Assistant is a key support role that plays a vital part in creating a nurturing and secure environment for the children, collaborating with the Teachers and Director to develop and implement a high-quality educational program. S/he must possess excellent interpersonal skills, be able to communicate effectively, and work well within a team. By observing, documenting, and reporting on children's interests and progress, the Teacher Assistant fosters positive relationships with parents and staff, ensuring that each child receives the best possible care and education. This role involves implementing developmentally appropriate activities, under the guidance of the Teacher and Director, that cater to the unique needs and interests of the children.

What You'll Do
- Engage children in curricula activities, promoting participation and enthusiasm.
- Manage and maintain the cleanliness, organization, and availability of classroom materials, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through informal discussions and progress reports, keeping them informed of their child's activities and achievements.
- Model good hygiene and self-help practices, promoting these essential life skills in the children.
- Ensure a smooth transition from home to the child care center, supporting children as they adjust to the daily routine.
- Adhere to all center policies and state regulations, upholding the highest standards of care and quality.
- Develop and maintain a personal professional development plan, committed to continuous improvement and growth.
Requirements
- Highly sought after: at least 1-2 years of professional childcare experience.
- Able to maintain high energy levels.
- Exceptional teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic computer proficiency.
- Sound understanding of child development and growth.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Hold current Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
- Successfully complete a thorough background check.
- Able to safely lift 30 pounds.
- Offer schedule flexibility, including part-time or full-time availability.
- Prior experience working with children from infancy to kindergarten age.
Nice to Have
Completion of required training in Shaken Baby Syndrome & Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is highly valued.
Outstanding communication skills are essential.
A calming and patient demeanor is highly beneficial.
A natural affinity for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers would be a significant asset.
Knowledge of early childhood development is desirable.
