We're seeking a dependable and structured Afternoon Support & Closing Teacher to join our childcare team in Portsmouth, VA.

Our center operates on a structured academic morning model, and our afternoon team ensures a smooth and professional closing each day.
Schedule Options: 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM (Option 2: 2:00PM – 6:00 PM, flexible scheduling available)

What You'll Do
Responsibilities:
- Provide classroom support during peak hours and cover teacher breaks to ensure smooth transitions
- Supervise children in a safe and controlled environment, combining classrooms as needed while maintaining licensing ratios per Virginia standards
- Engage students in aftercare activities, homework time, and structured play, promoting learning and development
- Maintain a clean and organized environment to ensure a healthy and stimulating atmosphere
- Follow closing checklist procedures to guarantee a safe and efficient dismissal process
- Ensure a safe and respectful environment for all children, families, and staff members
- Support a team-oriented approach to childcare, promoting collaboration and mutual respect
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must have 1 year of previous experience working with preschool children in a group setting
- Background check is required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role
