About This Role
Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern NH is hiring for a support staff member role in Newport. Compensation is $13.65 – $17.47/Hr. Candidates need no formal early childhood credentials to start.
We are a leading youth development organization dedicated to providing a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for young people to learn, grow, and thrive.
We are currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team at Cornerstone Charter School in Newport, where we are launching a brand-new before and after school program serving students in kindergarten through 3rd grade.
In this role, you will play a critical part in creating a positive and engaging environment for youth by supporting daily programming, building strong relationships with children and families, and fostering a sense of belonging for every child.

What You'll Do
Prepare Youth for Success
1.The successful candidate will create an environment that fosters the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes by delivering age-appropriate day-to-day activities in accordance with established program expectations.
- Develops and maintains a safe and supportive environment that promotes program participation and engagement.
- Orients new members to the Club's daily scheduling and program expectations, emphasizing the importance of safety, kindness, and responsibility.
- Provides guidance, role modeling, and constructive feedback to members to promote development and skill building in program areas.
- Demonstrates leadership through the consistent use of safety and licensing best practices to ensure proper conduct and safety of members.
- Ensures accurate and timely attendance tracking for all members in their assigned group.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and well-maintained program space, including supervision of members during activities.
Program Development, Implementation and Supervision
2.The candidate will effectively implement and administer programs, services, and activities for members, ensuring Club and child safety, quality programs, and a good appearance of the branch/site at all times.
3.Monitors and evaluates programs, services, and activities to identify areas for improvement and ensure alignment with Club goals and objectives.
4.Evaluates Club programs continually, tracking outcome metrics and verifying that programs/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
5.Documents any problems or issues that may arise on a day-to-day basis through the use of injury/incident reports.
6.Communicates effectively with child care licensing and DCYF when applicable.
7.Participates in special programs and/or events, such as all-staff training days, to enhance their skills and knowledge.
8.Attends staff meetings to stay informed about Club policies, procedures, and initiatives.
9.Fosters open and effective communication with families, staff, and members, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
10.Performs other duties as assigned by the Club leadership.
Requirements
1.Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
2.Must be at least 18 years of age and have a minimum of 600 hours of experience working in a school-age program.
3.Must have documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or another field of study focused on children, awarded by a regionally accredited college or university.
4.Employees who are 19 years of age may be assigned to the senior program.
5.Knowledge of youth development principles and practices.
6.Able to motivate and manage behavior problems in youth.
7.Able to communicate effectively with parents/guardians.
8.Able to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
9.Able to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
10.Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
11.Occasional travel for meetings/training, etc. may be required.
12.May be asked to drive Club van/short bus occasionally, provided they are 21 years of age or older.
13.Must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to the Operations Director or human resources department.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS
1.All candidates offered a job with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will be required to submit to an FBI fingerprint background check and a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and First Advantage.
2.The organization has a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse and will not tolerate mistreatment or abuse of children in its programs. Any such mistreatment or abuse by an employee will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment and cooperation with law enforcement.
