The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire is a dynamic organization with 30 programs and 200 staff, operating in a wide geographic area. We're hiring associate teachers for the newly constructed Penacook Community Center.

You'll be responsible for upholding the BGCCNNH mission, supporting children and teachers, and ensuring the health and safety of the children. Some key responsibilities include actively engaging with children, assisting with cleaning and organizing the classroom, and documenting child observations. We're looking for someone who presents a genuine interest in and willingness to learn child development and health and safety practices.

What You'll Do
Foster Positive Youth Development
- Cultivate an environment that supports the achievement of youth development outcomes.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children by responding to their needs, encouraging exploration, and employing effective child guidance strategies.
- Plan and implement curriculum to meet the individual needs of youth, incorporating elements of emergent curriculum.
- Establish and maintain program goals to ensure the health and safety of all members.
- Evaluate Club programs continually, tracking outcome metrics and ensuring programs respond to member needs and address diversity.
- Use child observation notes to inform curriculum planning and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure the well-being and safety of assigned members by name and face.
- Oversee implementation of NAEYC standards, GSQ, and BGCCNNH policies and procedures.
- Administer first aid as needed and communicate incidents to families.
- Oversee and assist with cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the classroom.
Program Development, Implementation, and Supervision
- Oversee record-keeping and reporting, including activities and events in the membership/finance system.
- Foster open communication with families, staff, and children through verbal and written exchanges.
- Supervise classroom staff, students, and volunteers, providing regular feedback on performance.
- Support staff and volunteers through modeling techniques and strategies that connect theory to practice.
- Lead planning meetings with the teaching team as needed.
- Increase the visibility of Club programs through daily schedule postings, social media announcements, and family emails.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be an associate teacher qualified before November 6, 2017, have a minimum of 9 credits in related coursework, or have a minimum of 1000 hours of supervised child care experience in a licensed child care program, and knowledge of child growth and development.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of current methods, principles, and techniques of teaching.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and application.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs; proven track record of creative and artistic teaching strategies.
- Ability to form developmentally appropriate relationships with children and promote positive behavior.
- Ability to motivate members and manage behavior problems with patience.
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Ability to communicate with staff, families, and community members in various methods.
- Must maintain the Club dress code, adapt to different learning styles, and obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications per Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements.
- May be required to drive the Club van/short bus periodically and possess a safe driving record.
- Required to assist in cleaning and organizing the Club, maintain confidentiality, and be willing to travel between locations when requested.
- All candidates must submit to an FBI fingerprint background check, a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept., and FirstAdvantage.
- This organization has a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse and mistreatment, and any such incidents will result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment and cooperation with law enforcement.
