What You'll Do
Unlocking Potential
- Create a supportive environment that fosters the growth and development of youth, helping them achieve their goals and build confidence.
- Deliver engaging and interactive programs that cater to the diverse needs and interests of our members.
- Orient new members to our club's daily routines and expectations, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and constructive feedback to help members develop essential skills and values.
- Lead by example, promoting a safe and respectful environment for all members.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and account for members in your care.
- Ensure program areas are clean, organized, and well-maintained, creating a welcoming space for all.
Program Excellence
- Implement and administer programs, services, and activities that meet the unique needs of our members.
- Monitor and evaluate programs to ensure safety, quality, and relevance, making adjustments as needed.
- Develop and evaluate programs that respond to the diverse needs and interests of our members, promoting cultural sensitivity and awareness.
- Document incidents and issues, maintaining open communication with families, staff, and members.
- Communicate with regulatory bodies, such as child care licensing and DCYF, as required.
- Participate in special programs, events, and training sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to open and effective communication within the team.
- Other duties as assigned to support the success of our programs.
Requirements
A group leader in a school-age program shall have at least one of the following:
- Experience working with school-age children totaling 600 hours;
- Documentation of at least 3 credits in child development, education, recreation, or other field of study focused on children, awarded by an accredited college or university;
- Documentation that she or he is a certified coach;
- Documentation of 5 years of parenting experience; or
- Documentation form or on file with the department that she or he was qualified and employed as a group leader in a school-age program on or before the adoption of these rules in 2022;
- Employees who are 19 years of age may be assigned to the senior program;
- Knowledge of youth development;
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems;
- Ability to communicate with parents/guardians;
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth with help from Branch/Site/Program director;
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment;
- Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certifications in order to meet Bureau of Childcare licensing requirements;
- Occasional travel for meetings/trainings, etc. may be required;
- May be asked to drive Club van/short bus occasionally (21 plus years of age only);
- Those employees who are asked to drive Club van/short bus must possess a safe driving record and submit a copy of such record to the human resources department;
- All of the candidates that are offered a job with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire will have to submit for an FBI fingerprint background check and submit to a background check through the State of NH Criminal Records Dept. and FirstAdvantage.
- This organization has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse of children and will not tolerate mistreatment or abuse of children in its programs.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central and Northern New Hampshire provides early learning, out-of-school time programs, summer day camps, and basketball leagues to 1200 youth weekly throughout the central and northern New Hampshire.
