What You'll Do

Responsibilities

As a member of our teaching team, you'll share the responsibility for the well-being and safety of our children. You'll also contribute to the development and implementation of our daily program and activities that align with our curriculum and philosophy.


Key Responsibilities

  • Take on leadership roles in the classroom, Support Teachers, and Teacher Assistants when the Head Teacher is absent.
  • Model and teach social-emotional skills that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a child-led, play-based curriculum that's tailored to each child's needs.
  • Learn and implement Pyramid Model Practices in your teaching.
  • Build strong relationships with each child and their family, as well as with all staff members.
  • Provide inclusive and diverse experiences that promote anti-bias and anti-sexist language and imagery.
  • Maintain the classroom environment, including supplies, and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Stay connected with colleagues and administration through regular email communication.
  • Uphold confidentiality and respect children's, families', and staff members' privacy.
  • Ensure continuity of care by being punctual, maintaining consistent attendance, and being flexible with your schedule.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development, and maintain the required number of professional development hours annually.
  • Hold a State of NH Early Childhood or Afterschool Professional Credential.
  • Follow all safety and health guidelines to ensure a safe environment for children, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain certifications in Infant/Child CPR, First Aid, Medication Administration, and Water Safety.
  • Supervise children at all times, being aware of their location and needs.
  • Adhere to child-to-staff ratios and be aware of medical or allergy conditions of the children in your care.
  • Ensure children's needs are met, including meal and snack times, and diapering as required.
  • Assist with daily tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and disinfecting toys and equipment.
  • Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of assigned classrooms and complete required paperwork.
  • In case of an emergency, safely evacuate or lock down the area as instructed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

As a teacher, you'll be responsible for contributing to the health, safety, and well-being of the children in your care. You'll also play a vital role in supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.


Physical Demands

As a member of our team, you should expect to:

  • Kneel to interact with children at their level.
  • Be able to demonstrate physical activities that may include running, hopping, jumping, dancing, and full-body movements.
  • Respond quickly and safely in emergency situations.
  • Lift and carry children when necessary.
  • Get on the ground with children to help them evacuate during an emergency.
  • Be prepared to respond to a child's periodic aggressive behavior.
  • Maintain mental and physical alertness and a suitable level of energy.

Requirements

Qualifications

A minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood Education or a related field (e.g., Child Study, Education, etc.), Associate's degree preferred.

Must demonstrate warmth, understanding of young children and families, and enthusiasm for hard work. A willingness to respect and work with families from diverse backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and cultures is essential. Ability to show imagination and flexibility in classroom planning, and an open and professional attitude, and a sense of humor are also necessary. Must be committed to professional development, with a minimum of 24 annual hours of Professional Development required.


During employment, all employees must attend the following: Child Care Licensing Orientation, Early Learning Guidelines Training, and Pyramid Model Training.

Nice to Have

We prefer candidates with an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education, as it demonstrates a higher level of education and training in this field.
