2nd Presbyterian Weekday School is hiring a co-teacher for our preschool for the 2026-2027 school year! We're looking for passionate early childhood educators to join our teaching community, where learning starts with safe and healthy relationships between teachers and children. Our curriculum balances supporting developmental milestones and exploring children's interests through hands-on learning.
We offer co-teaching positions to candidates with a degree and classroom experience, mentorship positions for those just starting in early childhood education, and after school positions for our After Care program. Our program runs from August to May, with a traditional school calendar, including holidays. Staff receive a paycheck year-round.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement educational curriculum through weekly planning sessions, creating classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards, in collaboration with your co-teacher or mentor teacher.
- Lead by example, model, and coach teaching team success.
- Design and lead individual and group activities to engage children, promoting social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
- Maintain open communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent night events, and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure center policies and state regulations are met.
- Maintain a healthy classroom environment, adhering to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Accurately maintain records, forms, and files.
- Pursue continuous quality improvement through personal professional development plans.
Requirements
- Must clear a full background check and pass health screening.
- Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, lift children when necessary, hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel or bend.
- A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, have peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Must have an understanding of child development.
- High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
Nice to Have
- Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in early childhood education. Bachelor's Degree in education or related field of study preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience preferred.
- Salary is commensurate with degree and experience.

Position Details:
The school year runs from August through May, following a traditional academic calendar.
This Co-Teacher position in our preschool classroom is Monday–Friday, approximately 30 hours per week, with hours from 8:45 AM – 3:10 PM.
